At SKY Soccer Club, we’ve delivered 31 years of Stability. Prior to 1991 the organizations that ultimately became SKY developed the first soccer programs in Bowling Green. Why such longevity? Integrity, purpose and truly being here for the kids in this community and putting them first. Our positive culture and focus being on our community and youth is quite contagious, bringing in many new excellent coaches, volunteers, partners and sponsors.
SKY Soccer Club’s Academy Select Soccer program offers the highest level of training and competitive game play available for players in 9U - 18U divisions.
Our Academy players’ development and pathway whether that be High School, College or Professional is a top priority. We believe we offer the highest quality player development platform, pathway and resources for players of all ages and abilities in Southern Kentucky.
Over many years, we have dedicated countless hours to enhance our Academy Select program to provide the highest quality instruction and player development in the area. Below you can find details about all the program enhancements.
Steve Henson, Director of Coaching
We’re unbelievably excited to have Steve Henson now as our full time Director of Coaching and Strategic Adviser at SKY Soccer Club. This provides SKY Soccer Club a full time resource with experience and expertise that is rarely available to clubs our size.
New 9U/10U Program Structure
Our Director of Coaching, will create and implement the 9U/10U curriculum. This curriculum adheres to the program objectives of individual player focus. While each team will be assigned a head and assistant coaches, the DOC will serve as an age group trainer by conducting weekly practices.
This means that our youngest Academy players will receive weekly training directly from our DOC in concert with the teams’ awesome coaching staff. This is a unique opportunity for our players and just a part of our growth and development plans for our Academy and Academy Select players!
LouCity and Racing Louisville Affiliation
The Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC Academy continues to grow through a newly announced affiliation agreement with Southern Kentucky Soccer Club.
Based in Bowling Green, Kentucky, SKY Soccer will as a result receive direct access to a professionally designed curriculum and in-person instruction from LouCity and Racing staff.
“We are excited to welcome SKY Soccer Club into our affiliate club program,” said Mario Sanchez, director of the LouCity and Racing Academy. “SKY has done an outstanding job through the years to create a positive playing environment for their members. As part of the affiliate program, we will be able to work together with the SKY leadership group to further the experience for their players and coaches.
WKU Soccer Coaches join SKY Coaching Staff
We’re very excited to announce the Western Kentucky Women’s Soccer Coaching Staff will be joining SKY for our 2022-2023 season to enhance our players’ development and future opportunities.
Great Coaches that are Great People
Our Coaches are respected members of the soccer community who have delivered high quality instruction and results for years at SKY and in middle School, High School and College programs. We’re continually developing new coaches through our pathway, and plan to bring resources in from outside of the area as needed to support our players' development.
We are always excited to release our Academy Select Coach list each year. With the enhancements to our 9U/10U Academy, we're going to have an amazing roster of coaches for all divisions. Keep an eye on our website for updated pictures and bios of our great staff. This group is one of the most experienced professional and licensed groups of coaches SKY has ever had for our players, and it will continue to grow...so stay tuned!
