The Purpose
The Referee Training Program exists to provide an entry point for players and others interested in the sport to become Certified Referees. Through this supervised training program, we develop soccer knowledge and leadership skills as we teach the fundamentals of refereeing.
The Facts
While anyone born in 2011 or prior is eligible, the program primarily focuses on those in the 2011, 2010, and 2009 birth years. Those 13 and older may participate, but will be required to become certified referees after a single season of participation.
Referees-in-Training are supervised by experienced referees, with at least one adult present at all times. After an initial training session, they officiate small-sided 4v4 games on a small field under direct supervision and with immediate feedback from their mentors.
After the completion of a full season of the program (minimum of 12 game periods worked), participants are eligible to have their Referee Certification Course costs covered ($65 value).
After the completion of 2 full seasons (minimum 12 games/season), participants will have their referee uniform kit cost covered upon completion of their Certification Course (~$70 value).
